Taylor family Co Armagh
« on: Saturday 23 May 20 17:32 BST (UK) »
Hi trying to do a bit of family research and wondered if anyone can help . My great grandmother was Rachel Taylor and she lived at Drumnasoo  she married a Robert McComb  who died at the age of 23 and they had one daughter Eleanor Agnes McComb. She later remarried an Issac Hayes.
Rachel was one of ten children and I'm trying to trace the Taylor side at the minute. I remember a Taylor living in the village that was related to my gran and they possibly buried with her in Kilmore Parish.

The family I'm looking for are Albert born 1903,Robert born 1901, Edmund born 1909, Harriett born 1907, James born 1911, Elsie born 1919, Annie Violet born 1917, Percy or Perry born 1916, Mary born 1919. I just wondering if any one out there possibly related to one of these people so I can fill in a few gaps in my research I can't find a son called john at all in the research.
Father was James Taylor died 9th April 1949 mother Minnie / Mary died 4th April 1946 daughter Elsie died 8th April 1927, son John died 21st Feb 1987, his sister Rachel Hayes died 11th March 1961, and Daughter Eleanor Agnes McMurray died 29th Dec 1976, son Perry died 4 th April 1988 and his wife Margaret died 6th March 1995 all buried in the same plot in Kilmore church co.Armagh.
.unfortunately I have no family left to help with this .  Hopefully someone can help .

No, there's no photo- headstone or otherwise- attached to your post. It also helps to put your post on the correct board (in this case ARMAGH) rather than COMMON Room so it won't get lost as many newer topics are posted on this board. Just click on 'report to moderator' and ask for it to be moved.

It also a good idea to post links if possible for details you've already found so that we don't have to waste time looking for the information in order to help further.

Births less than 100 years old will not be shown in vital records on Irish Genealogy site so there might be more children from the family you mentioned but are you sure that the ones you've listed are all the one family?

A bit puzzling this-

2nd marriage of Rachel (Taylor) McComb in 1919- her father is Robert not James-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1919/09661/5503308.pdf
There is a Rachel Taylor/Robert McComb marriage but it’s 1902-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1901/10323/5757938.pdf
That couple had a daughter Eleanor Agnes later in 1902-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1902/01892/1735148.pdf

To clarify things- the 2nd marriage in 1919 is for the Rachel Taylor married in 1902 and mother of Agnes Eleanor- clearly this Rachel is NOT the daughter of James Taylor & Mary Perry.

You said Rachel was one of 10 children yet you have 10 children plus Rachel listed.

The parents were James Taylor & Mary Perry so the son born in 1916 was Perry not Percy (although GRONI has mother’s maiden name as Terry) and son John born 27 Apr.1905 with GRONI showing mother’s maiden name as Barry not Perry.
John’s registration does show mother as Barry so not a GRONI mis-transcription-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1905/01787/1701567.pdf
Perry’s registration mis-transcribed but is clearly Perry- and mother Minnie (a nickname for Mary)
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1916/01354/1558500.pdf
Marriage of parents James Taylor & Mary Perry gets you back a generation with fathers’ names & occupations-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1898/10431/5798134.pdf
Going forward will be more difficult since few recent vital records are online.

Added- daughter Mary Taylor born 11 Apr.1914- not 1919 as in your original post

See that you've added to that post with headstone details since I looked at it.

Here's the death of Robert William McComb age 23-
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1905/05596/4572827.pdf

GRONI's database shows a death for Rachel Hayes died 11 Mar.1911 (which is same as your headstone transcription) but she was 82 years old so born c1879 NOT 1899.

I think you need to re-check your notes and let us know which Rachel Taylor, if any, you are looking for.

To avoid duplicate research, this link refers to the same family:

Thankyou all for your help when looking at it again I realise that there are two Rachel Taylor's the same family so the Rachel I am looking would be the sister possibly of James Taylor . Who would have the birth before the 1889 date that I thought at first.( maths obviously not my strong suit lol)

Appreciate all your help and pointing out my errors
