Hi,

Have you considered taking an autosomal DNA test?  Both males & females can test and more people are joining the databases all the time.

If you got lucky you MIGHT find a 2nd-4th Cousin already on one of the databases & then you'd have to work the tree backwards to try and find your common ancestor.

If you're not so lucky it's waiting game until a closer match appears on your list.

Rootschat has it's own DNA board that you can browse to see how other people are using DNA to try & solve their brickwalls, whether through illegitimacy, informal adoption, lack of paper records etc etc....
