Trying to find a baptism for Lydia Howlett
« on: Wednesday 27 May 20 18:25 BST (UK) »
My ancestor Lydia Howlett may have been born in Mattishall Norfolk in the 1690s, but I have been unable to find a baptism record for her.  Her father is supposed to be Nicholas Howlett and his wife Rebecca.  This line is supposed to go back to a John Howlett whom married a gateway ancestor Margaret Gage born around 1590 in North Tuddenham Norfolk, daughter of Sir Peter de Gaunt Gage, and all the way back to King Henry I, through his grandmother Eleanor St Clare or Clere.

Norfolk Record Office, Norwich.
You could start with the will of Nicholas Howlett  senior 1710 of Mattishall ref Famm 431, then his wife Rebecca Howlett widow of Nicholas also 1710 ref Famm 432.

Could prove interesting

Nicholas Howlett 1637 Yeoman of Mattishall and Whitwell.
Ref Parke 195.

There is also **John Howlett Snr. 1644 ref Amyson 116 and Thomas Howlett 1660 ref Tennant 209
both are of Mattishall.

The wills information was great.  Does anyone know the identity of Nicholas Howlett's spouse Rebekah, and where and when they married? :)Greasey
