looking for information on William MCMullan, Millquarter Ballyscullion
« on: Wednesday 27 May 20 22:30 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on William McMullan of Millquarter Ballyscullion or there about. He had a daughter (Lizzie) married in Belfast in 1900 at the age of 23 years.  The bridesmaids name was Rose Devlin.
He had another daughter called Mary McLouaghan "I think", its difficult to make out.

Any help would much appreciated.

Cannot seem to find Lizzie's birth. Have tried from 1874 to 1879 without a result.

Found a birth in Ballymoney, 1873, father William, Farmer & mother Bridget Gribben?

Yes this is the family.  I have the 1901 and 1911 census records for the family but I'm stuck with Lizzie Murrays father Wm McMullan.  I cant seem to find any of this family.  Lizzies first two sons John and William, were born in Ballyscullion at what I presume was either Wm Mc Mullans home or Lizzies sister Mary Mc Lenaghan named as present at Williams birth.
I am hoping that someone on here or from a local historical society will have some information.

There is a family of McLenaghans living in Ballyscullion including a Mary, age 29 but she is not married, on 1901 census.
Are you sure she was her sister?

Given your mention of Rose Devlin (as a witness to Lizzie McMullan's 1900 marriage), I  briefly rooted around for a McMullan-Devlin angle and in so doing happened upon a transcript of a marriage for a William McMullan and a Catherine Devlin in 1856 in Duneane RC church. This couple went on to have children baptised in Duneane RC parish: Thomas bap. 1857, John bap. 1864, James bap. 1866, Nathaniel bap. 1869, William bap. 1871, and Elizabeth bap. 1874 - I struggled to find any associated civil birth registrations, maybe someone else with fresher eyes can.

But the only reason I mention this at all is that the stated address in the last two baptismal records (William in 1871 and Elizabeth in 1874) was the townland of Muckrim, which borders Millquarter...

Do you think this is a possibility?

Why do you 'think' that he had a daughter Mary? Can you say what the source is for this, so we can all view it?
