James Martin check
« on: Thursday 28 May 20 00:52 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to locate the christening of a James Martin who married a widow named Ann Packham in Fletching in 1690. Both James and Anne were 'of Fletching' so I assume he was from there or nearby.

As far as I know James and Anne only had one child, a daughter named Elizabeth christened in 1691.

Can anyone help with identifying a christening for James?

Thanks in advance
Matt

Any idea of James' occupation?

There is one for a James Martin on 17 Aug 1662 in Mayfield, son of John Martin who was a glover.

Remember, he may not have been born in the Fletching area.  He fulfilled the residence requirement at the time of marriage to be described as of Fletching.

Hi Nell

Thanks for that. Unfortunately I don't have any info on James at all at the moment other than his date of marriage and the name of his daughter.

That James in Mayfield may be worth following up though.
