Stella Carnell(1917)/Nye/Dehoney
« on: Thursday 28 May 20 12:34 BST (UK) »
I'm struggling to find any trace of Stella & her 2nd husband Joseph Dehoney .
She appears on the 1939 register with the following line blacked out. This was probably the entry for her daughter Beverley from her first marriage to Victor Nye.
After this I cannot seem to trace any of them at all.
I believe there is a possibility that they moved to Belfast possibly for Joseph to work at Shipbuilders Harland & Wolf but this is by no means certain.
Grateful for any pointers.
Bob

No details of marriage years in your post.

Marriage to Nye was 1936 and second to Joseph M Dehoney 1948 - both in Kent

Sorry I should have mentioned that i had both marriages and the birth of Beverley.
Beyond that I cannot find anything for Stella or Beverley which are what I am interested in.
Thanks

Can't find any birth reg for him or a marriage for his parents.  Were they Irish as there is no Dehoney on the Irish 1901 census.  Wonder if it was De Honey

Article about Civil Aviation Essay Competition, Belfast Telegraph, 26 October 1949: Runner-up in the competition was Mr. Joseph Dehoney, Rochester Ave., Cregagh, a draughtsman at Short Bros. and Harland.

1951 Belfast street directory entry for Rochester Avenue: 7. Dehoney, Joseph, draughtsman

Still there in the 1960 directory:

I have details of the daughter's marriage from a Belfast newspaper - given the website policy on details of living people, can you confirm is she is now deceased, or shall I pm you?

Old phone books suggest that J.M. Dehoney moved from 7 Rochester Avenue to 15 Rosepark South off the Upper Newtownards Road Belfast in the early 1960s and the listing at that address continues until at least 1981.
