Thanks for still searching, I`ve started another thread on the Military   forum, so lets hope that might turn up something, but so far no details to confirm 100% it`s the same man.

17934 left his effects to a Miss Lillian E Slack (or Stack) his sole legatee - does that help (Soldiers Effects).  He enlisted in April/May 1915.  5th  Battalion was a Shrewsbury raised battalion but that does not necessarily mean he was from there.

Age - he was over 40 but he volunteered so I don't think age is relevant

 My reply - Lillian Ellen Slack is at the address he was visiting in  Rhyl in 1901, she is still there in 1911,
That seems to be a pretty  good clue. I have searched newspapers for a report on his death, but not found anything..
