Mission impossible .
« on: Friday 29 May 20 18:13 BST (UK) »
Thomas Hatfield Rosier  had a son born 25 Feb 1904 in  Everton
Birth certificate has fathers occupation as bank clerk, informant was mother Minnie Rosier, formerly Jones.
The child was given a private baptism in August 1904, and a note in the column reads - received into Church 29/08/1908.
Only the mothers name is on the baptism.
This child was adopted  very soon after, given another name and is found in 1911.

So -- I find no marriage between THR and Minnie Jones,  the only Rosier / Jones marriage  is for a different couple in another part of the country.
I checked the GRO index for Rosier children with mmn Hatfield to see if there could be a link.
Also for children with middle name Hatfield  and found none.
I`ts believed Minnie went to Canada.

I can`t find THR anywhere so have no idea where he was born or when.

 I am stumped  ???

Do you have any other documentation that Thomas Hadfield Rosier ever existed at all?
If not, then it seems to me Minnie might well have made him up to save registering the child as illegitimate. Especially since you say only her name is on the baptism, and she also gave him up for adoption later.
I have a case like this, and it took me many years to find the solution (possibly because I was very slow to think that that might have been the case!  :)  )

She was born as Jones, a Jones family member brought the child up.

Thanks
Nothing at all. A  family member brought the child up.
That was my thought,  but it was quite an elaborate name to use.

The note on the baptism record shows that the child was received into the church 29/03/08 not 29/08/08.

There was a Minnie Rosier b 1886 in Liverpool.

Tree on Ancestry shows she married in Canada in 1914 and died there in 1960

She was born as Jones, a Jones family member brought the child up.

Do you have Minnie Jones’ birth and family records?

It seems a great coincidence that Minnie Rosier emigrated to Canada and you believe that your Minnie
also moved to Canada.

Have you checked the address on the birth certificate? Is that Everton Brow, the same as the baptismal address?

There is a Thomas Hatfield around at the same time, although he is not a bank clerk.

If you are confident that the child's mother was a member of the Jones family, have you broadened your search to Jones/Rosier - even Jones/Hatfield combinations?

Before I saw Heywoods last post I was also looking for a Thomas Hadfield and did find this one in 1901 living at 173, Grove Street, Liverpool with this parents and he was a Bank Clerk

Thomas Hadfield  24 Bank Clerk b Southport, Lancashire

He was still living with his family in the next census - still a single Bank Clerk

That looks interesting - the one I saw was Hatfield, a Coal Merchant.
