Thanks for the info about Zoom Caroline, I did have the appropriate things clicked. When the participants couldn't see me I went looking for the camera app and ended up downloading something called Cyberlink Webcam Splitter. Not sure what that's all about or how I got to it but I don't think it's what I want. Had a look at Zoom Help but quite honestly I don't have a clue about half the things they're on about, why does it always have to be tech speak?!! I'm no technophobe and can usually find my way around things but they don't make it easy when you get stuck. Anyway, when I finally found the profile settings there's a camera called HP Truevision HD. As my laptop is and HP I reckon this is probably what I should be using so have selected that for next time. I can see myself on the screen, these things never look very flattering! I'll see if I can try it out with a friend before next Friday and just hope I've got it right.

Maiden Stone, I'd participated by audio by not having the video camera on, albeit by accident, so presumably you can do that. Caroline will probably be able to tell you how to do it deliberately!  :)

Roobarb, I've had mixed success with Zoom. First occasion was OK once I'd adjusted sound level. It was a substitute for a conference. 2nd & 3rd were family history tutorials. I got locked out when I tried to adjust sound for first one. I told the organiser and she sent me the link to the video on U-tube. Logged in for next one - all I could see was my huge face, no sound or vision so I gave up. It was oversubscribed and the "room" was full apparently. I was sent a message later that day about a repeat the same evening but I didn't see the message until it was too late.
Caroline, can one participate in zoom meetings just by audio?
Yes you can do it by just audio switch the camera off and audio on it's that easy!
