Wilson family
« on: Friday 29 May 20 23:10 BST (UK) »
Hello,  I am stumped, I found the Wilson family landing at New Orleans in February 1857 and can't seem to find any further mention of them. There is the mother Anne 26 and children Sarah Ann 6, George Henry 4 and Joseph an infant (born 1853). They are the family of John Wilson b 1829 at Oldham, his wife was Anne Angelo and the children were all baptised Catholics. They would be travelling to join John although can't find him travelling. Any suggestions would be welcome. Many thanks

Well, they are
Not John and Anne Wilson in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1870. Their son Joseph was born in Massachusetts in 1859. And there are easier ways to get to Massachusetts from England than going by way of New Orleans.

Not John and Anne Wilson in Arena, Wisconsin, in 1860 - the children's names don't
match.

Were all the children born in England? Was there anything unusual about the birthplaces, John's occupation, etc., that would make them stand out? They all have common names and are going to be hard to identify.

They seem to have vanished, but thank you for looking. They were from Oldham and John worked in the cotton.  The baptisms are all at St Marys Catholic church Oldham & the maiden name is Angelo, they are on Lancashire Parish Clerks, The Lancashire BMD have spelt it different.

George Henry was born January 1852 and his mother was Anne Angelo born Ireland so the Manhattan one is not him but the New Orleans one could be, tho it is such a common name, maybe the rest of them didn't last very long?
Thank you
