jonW65 - this is all beginning to look very good. I am now pretty much convinced that Ann KING married William Edsell and then William Riddle in Kirdford, before settling with William Riddle in Chiddingfold.

The info on Elizabeth Edsell and Thomas RIDDLE appears to be good as well.

The only doubt that I have concerns Hannah, as there is a burial on 26 Oct 1840 in Chiddingfold of Hannah RIDDLE, aged 40, which is fairly close to being correct for a baptism in 1802.

There are, of course, still some gaps to be filled.

(1) the births of William EDSELL, William RIDDLE and Ann KING. These still remain elusive.

(2) Did Thomas RIDDLE marry? Probably not given that he was only 33 when he died, but he may have married.

(3) What became of the William EDSELL baptised in 1792 in Kirdford. Was he also removed with his sister?

(4) Did Hannah RIDDLE die in 1840 or 1875? Are there two Hannah RIDDLE's in Chiddingfold?

(5) Where was Ann RIDDLE/EDSELL/KING in 1841? Clearly with Hannah, if she didn't die in 1840.

Still considerable progress. Many thanks.

Hi
There are a couple of baptisms there in the mid 1830's to George and Hannah Riddle (William, Mary). An earlier one  in 1831 to William and Hannah?
Anyway, in 1841 there is a George Riddle, 30, in Chiddingfold with some children, but no other adult. So perhaps the Hannah who died in 1840 was his wife.

You could well be right.

But what was Ann doing in Windlesham in 1841? She lived most of her adult life in Chiddingfold and was buried there.

If we assume that Hannah died in 875 having married John Richard WIGGINS (1810-1846), then the remaining mysteries are:

(1) births/baptism of William Edsell
(2) births/baptism of William Riddle
(3) births/baptism of Ann King.
(4) the fate of William Edsell - born 1792 in Kirdford.

There was I notice a William Edsell buried on 18 Feb 1795 at Godalming. I would really like to see the content of that removal notice, to see if it mentions William, which it should if he was still alive in 1802, having been born in Kirdford like his sister.

Staying with her daughter  :).  I was surprised to see her there too, I was not looking for her in that part of Surrey.

Well done John, you have been working hard.  The removal order was an excellent find

Agreed, it is the removal order that ties the Kirdford family and the Chiddingfold family together.
