Decipher name of school 1888 Scotland?
« on: Sunday 31 May 20 00:59 BST (UK) »
Would some one be able to help with the name and place of this school? I am guessing Keith however is just a guess. His address was Keith Place on admission on the 6 Feb 1888.
Thanks Kaz

Of course, Inverkeithing Public School wasn't a 'public school' - as in the weird use of that term for a private fee-paying school like, say, Eton.  It was simply the school that the children of the general public attended.

In 1888 it was situated next to, and north of, Inverkeithing Parish Church.  The old building still exists.

No problem, Kaz, I used to live near there.

I don't know where 'Keith Place' was (I've looked at a few old maps & plans) but I'd guess it was somewhere down by the Keithing Burn, maybe just the name of a single house rather than a street.  Good luck!

Harry.
