Edmund (Edmond) JOHNSTON 1820-1882

Hello Rootschatters, I hope you are all keeping safe and well in these strange times.

A couple of years ago I posted a message on the Chicago page about this great great uncle of mine.  He was born in Ireland, son of Benjamin Johnston & Catherine nee Graydon. He died in Cook, Chicago in 1882. However, he left Ireland in 1837 on the ss George Washington, stopping in New York, bound for Canada.
I have since discovered that he had a daughter , Isabella M. Johnston, who married Warren S. EDES in Nov 1871 in Chicago.  Isabella was apparently born in 1851 in Belleville, Hastings, Ontario. She was Edmund's second daughter.  She died in 1931 and is buried in La Grange,Cook.

I have also found Edmund's wife's death, in La Grange, Cook, Chicago in March 1893. Anne nee Summers.  She was aged 70, born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I cannot find any information in the Canadian records available... Did Edmund & Anne marry in Canada?  I cannot find Isabella's birth in Belleville.  Or her elder sister??

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Her birth in 1851 pre-dates civil registration in Ontario which began in 1869.  The 1870 US Census in Cook County, Illinois has Ed (sic), aged 48, with wife Ann, aged 40;  children are Kate (20), and Isabella (18), both born in Canada, along Edward (16), and Mary (10), both born in Michigan.  There is also a Charles & Mary Brigham in the household, both born in Massachusetts.
