That's really useful to know, Carmella - thank you. I also followed Roberta's link to The DNAGeek's post about MyHeritage matches (even if it is a bit old now) - and I think this could be the most likely explanation.

I really want to try and find out if one of these two matches (HRC and KW) do indeed share two of my common ancestors, but can I fully trust the match? As it's a fairly decent cM (14 and 17) I'll forge ahead, and put my Dad's lack of a match, for now, as a blip (but I'll check with a few of the other mutual matches as well).
