Can't Find death for Allan Syme Thornton

I have an Allan Syme Thornton, born 12/6/1884 in Doonside Maybole, married to Christina Spiers on 20/11/1904 in Blackfriars, Glasgow and I have him living in 41 Irongray St Glasgow in 1930

I cannot find his death, only that of their son, also Allan Syme Thornton in 1949
Is there any reason that his death would not be recorded ?

An Allan Syme Thornton aged 86 died in Western Australia in 1971.

Father’s name James, mother Marion.

Is that the right person?

To say I'm impressed would be an enormous understatement, those were his parents !
Can I ask how you would know where to look ?
Would not have crossed my mind, there has been no mention of any family having emigrated.

I looked at deaths on FindMyPast.
I noted this one in Western Australia, so searched the online death indexes for WA (link in my earlier message) which luckily went up to 1971.

I also just googled the name, and came up with this

there has been no mention of any family having emigrated.

Allan Syme Thornton b. 12 June 1884 of Burnhouse, Galston, Ayrshire, departed London 13th September 1960, destination Freemantle. Country of intended permanent residence Australia.

Also departing for Freemantle on the same day were James Thornton, same address, farmer, born 30th May 1905 and Anna Bella Chalmers Thornton born 4th May 1909. Both were Australian citizens.

Hadn't found James or his wife yet, only son Allan and daughter Janet.
A new line of enquiry !
From what you've said it seems that James and wife were already living in Oz
    and probably came over to take the old man back with them

A James Thornton married an Anna B C Oswald in Perth district, W.A. in 1935.

Anna Bella Chal(mers) Oswald born Kinghorn 1909.

Appears to have emigrated to Australia with her entire family in 1912, destination was Freemantle.
