Brinklow Walker Request

Hi,

Looking for some help as I seem to have hit a dead-end tracking the paternal lineage on my grandmother's side.

This is what I have:

Arthur Walker (1896-1964) - married Nora Johnson - lived in Brinklow
James Walker (1860-1925) - married Selina Owen - lived in Brinklow
James Walker (1829-1893?) - married Mary Ann Greasly - lived in Brinklow
James Walker (1806-?) - married Mary Sanders - lived in Brinlow and believe was baptised in Newbold on Avon.

Struggling to find much detail on the oldest James Walker, including when he died. Think his parents may have been John Walker and Elizabeth Walker, born around 1775, but again, struggling for details.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

These are of Walkers buried at Brinklow between 1813 and 1852, may be of some use to you -

Mary nearly 2 - 5 April 1830
John 73        - 25 October 1833
William infant - 19 December 1833
George 4       - 21 December 1844

Mary says she is married 1851 Census but I cant find a Burial 1841-1861 for James either.

John/Elizabeth Bapt several children in Newbold 1791-1809.

So looks like the John buried 1833 Brinklow found by Al is her Husband

Looks like a John Walker was baptised on the 20th April 1760 in Fillongley, parents William and Sarah Walker. That's the only record remotely close to Brinklow that I can find that would tie in with those dates.

There is another John Walker baptised on the 23/11/1760 in Brailes, Warwickshire, parents John and Elizabeth

Right, may have cracked it. This is what I have from Newbold-On-Avon.

John Walker married Mary Woodhouse 27th May 1765. witnesses John and Mary Walker (probably his parents)

John Walker Bap 1st July 1767 of John and Mary Walker
Other Children
Thomas Bap 13th February 1769
Jane Bap 19th June 1770
Richard Bap 10th October 1771 (This one must have died)
Richard Bap 12th October 1773

Also having children in Newbold around that time were Thomas and Mary Walker and Sam and Hannah Walker, possibly brothers of John.

The year of John's death (73 in 1833) suggests that he was born in 1760 but in my experience one cannot always rely on such dates in those days when most people could not read or write.
The Newbold connection is shown by the fact that both were buried there although they lived in Brinklow.

Hi, sorry for the slow reply.

Just not sure on the dates. Assuming we have the right John Walker, then the record of his death seems pretty certain. The book is very clear that he died in 1833, and it states his death as being 73. I can't image in those days him having lived to have been much older than that, which as noted would mean he was born around 1760.

Based on the below, that would mean he was married at 5?

Also unless he had another brother called John your dates below have his baptism in 1767?

Unless we're saying that John Walker and Mary Woodhouse are Johns parents and his grandparents are John and Mary Walker?
