JOSEPH BENTLEY
« on: Wednesday 03 June 20 12:10 BST (UK) »
Hi,

My 3x great uncle, Joseph Bentley was born in 1885 in Nantwich, Cheshire. He served in the First World War, firstly in the Navy and, then, in the Army until he was killed on 18 Sep 1918 during the Advance to the Hindenberg Line at the Battle of Epehy. He served in the Cheshire Regiment (no 44382) then the Royal Welsh Fusiliers (no. 56349). I know little of his Navy service and would like to know, if possible, when he joined the navy and when he left. His death notice in the newspaper states that he "originally served in the navy for five years".

Thanks  :)
