House History

I have just joined this site and would like to find some history on my house but not sure where to start. It was built just over 100 years ago.

Welcome to Rootschat Tremorran  :D

You don't say where the house is located but you may like to look at this website to help you get started.

https://historicengland.org.uk/advice/your-home/your-homes-history/how-to-find-out/

You may like to see who was living in the property in the 1939 Register if it is in England or Wales.

Depending on the age of the house, you can search by address in the censuses on Find My Past.

Old maps can sometimes help too - you can sometimes narrow down when the house appeared on maps / when the land was subdivided.

I believe you can search via deeds too, but that incurs a cost.

Your county archives will hold a variety of maps which will help you;  although the buildings are closed some archives are working remotely/behind the scenes so might be able to help you with any email enquiries.
