Unmarried parents on Ancestry?

Does anyone know if it's possible to add unmarried parents on Ancestry? I'm trying to add someone to my tree who had an illegitimate child with my great-grand uncle. I know I can change the 'nature' of the relationship in the settings (partner, unknown, other, etc), but annoyingly the website still refers to the death of the 'husband' or 'wife' in the list of facts.

If I do add this person, I don't want to perpetuate false links for anyone else who comes across my tree in their research. Does anyone know if there's any way to get around this, or is it a bug in the website?

I've done it with my grandfather's parents. I'm not sure how but grt grandmother is shown without a spouse and just my grandfather as her son.  The same with his father.

I think I added my grandfather and then put in his parents but not linked them as spouse.

Although it shows the death of his father in my grandfathers 'facts', it doesn't show the death of her spouse in my grt grandmother's 'facts'

And if you have accidentally given him the wrong parent, or want to add another, when you have their record up, top right is EDIT.  one of the options is EDIT RELATIONSHIP

Yes, go to the father..
select Add Family, add  son / daughter
enter the name and birth date of the offspring
at  the bottom of the box under Parents
click on [father's name] and unknown mother
Save

now click on the newly added offspring
At the the top right hand corner select edit / edit relationships
the next box will allow you to add either a new name for the mother or an existing tree person if she has been added elsewhere ( )

A drop down box on the far right of the "mother" field allows you to select one of the following: 
Bioligical / adopted / step / foster / related / guardian / private / unknown

don't worry about messing up, you can always go back in and fix it, just take it a step at a time.

you can remove any fact. (entered in error or whatever)

Each fact has an edit box
at the bottom right of the edit box just click on delete.
or if you know the correct death date, just amend it.

Nice to hear you want to keep your tree as "true" as possible...

Thanks for the advice everyone, I think I've got it sorted now - I hadn't thought of simply not having a 'spousal' relationship and only having them linked via the child.

jc26red, well I've seen enough of my own discoveries later shown to me as suggestions in other people's ancestry trees to know how fast information (including false information) can be copied and pasted on that site! Even worse if the connection seems plausible rather than obviously preposterous... So I'd ideally like my tree to be a positive research help for those who run across it in their own searches!

Would be nice if they recognised common-law partnerships. My partner and I are unmarried but have been together for 14 years. We're not going to have kids. At the minute the only way I can show this is by "marrying" us.
