Obituaries
« on: Saturday 06 June 20 11:27 BST (UK) »
Is it possible to search obituary archives for Hull online? I am looking for any record of the death of an ancestor in 1953. I'm trying to find out if he ever married and having a name like Johnson there are so many but his middle name was Octavius which surely can't be that common. He didn't marry before 1911 and the records on Find My Past rarely give the fathers name during this time frame. I've also search Public Member Trees on Ancestry to see if anyone else had managed to find a wife but no-one has. I'm out of ideas. He was a stonemason if that might give someone a possible lead.  ???

You could look for him in the 1939 register in Hull to see who he might be living with.
His occupation will help.

He appears to be single in 1939
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Have you searched the newspapers available on FindMyPast?

Is he likely to have had an obituary in the local press?

Yes I did check Newspapers on Find My Past and I do also know all about his parents and siblings. It was really only his death and whether he had been married I was searching for but Rosie99 seems to have answered that question for me. Thank you so much for your help though.
