Thanks Everyone. I think Williams middle name is supposed to be Merson as that's his mothers maiden name. It was just misspelled on his baptism record. He never seems to use his middle name from what I can see though.

He was baptised in Bishops Hull, Somerset in 1816 parents John Lock and Mary Merson.

I haven't found his marriage to Sarah so I can't confirm that the 1841 census is him. It lists him as a baker and they have a 2 yr old daughter Maria in Bedminster Somerset.

I haven't found this couple in Bedminster again. I have found possible deaths for Maria in 1844 Bedminster and Sarah 1846 Tiverton but unsure if these are the right people.

I have been assuming that its the same William in Tiverton as in Bedminster as his occupation in the census' is Baker and the '51 - '81 census have him as being born in Taunton. This William dies in Tiverton in 1886.

I had seen a William marrying Caroline in 1847 but as I can't see the record I am unsure if its the right William. I was just hoping someone may have access to the original so I could get the Fathers name and occupation to confirm this all. Also if he is listed as a Widower that would help confirm that he was married before, possibly to Sarah.

Prangnell, Chapman, How, Mumford, Henwood, Owen, Wormald, Robins, Bendall, Turner, Ayton, Watts, Baker, Wiltshire, Longman, Moody, Talbot.

Thanks BumbleB!

Well his father John Lock was a Farmer so that fits. However it says he is single so maybe it wasn't him married to Sarah or they just put single instead of widower.

GRO gives the age of Sarah Lock - Tiverton, 1846 - 37 years.

I can't see a death registration for Maria in 1844 - FreeBMD or GRO
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Thanks BumbleB.

I found Maria's death on Gro under the spelling of Locke. I've found in this family while it is mainly spelled Lock there are quite a few times where the e has been added.
