I am seeking information about Ernest Edward Billinghurst born 14 March 1865 in Lewisham, Kent and died 7 October 1931 in Vancouver British Columbia Canada.

Ernest married Laura Purvis – date not found yet.

There is an obituary in the `Vancouver Sun´ dated 22 October 1931 on the Heritage website which I cannot read.

Any more information about this family in Canada would be welcome.

From the Canada Archives online:
1921 Census  EEB b 1888 England living Esquimalt , Nanaimo district BC Finance agent
Also      Laura age 45 b Java 1890, parents both born England
            Laura age 19 b BC
            Dorothy  age 11 b BC
Ancestry has deaths for EEB and Laura 1961 but I do not have a subscription to the Canada site so only know it was in BC. Also a marriage for Laura ? assume daughter to Reginald F Kaltenbach.

1901 Census, city of Victoria, BC

Erenest E born March 14, 1865 in England, age 36, arrived 1889, occupation: agent, worked all of the last 12 months, earnings from occupation or trade: 192

Laura born December 24, 1875 in Java, age 25, arrived 1890

both can read, write, and speak English

---------
Arriving NY City, 28 October 1889, on the SS Alaska from Liverpool and Queenstown

Ernest E Billinghurst, 25, clerk, from Britain, to US, last column says something about Montreal, see attached

---------
UK Incoming passengers, 1899, at Liverpool, from New York
Ernest E Billinghurst, 35, agent

----------
I got the 1901 Census at ancestry because I am lazy, but it should be on the Archives of Canada site also.

----
ancestry only had an index reference to his death, which was the same date and place you already have.
