I looked for his brothers, to see if Ferdinand was with them somewhere.

It looks like Frantz Valdmar married in Copenhagen in 1883

I didn't find Carl or George, except their baptisms

Other than that, nothing. Are there navy enlistment records in Denmark? Or merchant shipping crew records? He was listed as a seaman on the US Navy record. He might have arrived at New Orleans as a crew member on a Danish ship.

I've been researching Ferdinand Buch for 10 years and have never found any record of him between his baptism record in Denmark to the 1881 census. I'm really hoping to try and piece together his movements between birth and 1881.

Hi
Apart from his birth I have only been able to find him in the 1860 Census in Copenhagen:
http://ao.sa.dk/ao/data.ashx?bid=245117 - left page, 2nd family from bottom.

I also looked up his mother, you may already have it:
Johanna Christine Blomström birth record:

Thank you for that. Any ideas what the census says. Is there details about address or occupations.
Thank you so much

Cheers.
I'll find the address for you later but his occupation was a saddle maker.
