Donohoe Family - Carlow
« on: Wednesday 10 June 20 13:44 BST (UK) »
Hi, I was just wondering if someone could help me with some research on some relatives.
My ancestor, Mary Ann Donohoe, was born c.1838 in Carlow and her brother James was born c.1837. Their parents were either Edward/Michael Donohoe and Maria Tallon. Mary Ann married Patrick Murphy in 1864 and she immigrated to Australia with her children in 1887 (a year after he passed away), living near her brother James (a contractor) in Goulburn. If anyone can find baptismal records of Mary Ann, James, Maria (mother) or Edward/Michael (father) or Maria and Edward/Michael's marriage or death record it would be much appreciated. Any other records or information would be very helpful too. If it helps - Mary Ann and Patrick lived in Knockendrane where most of their children were born and where Patrick passed away on Oct 3rd 1886.
Thanks, Michael :)

I can't see a marriage for Mary Ann and Patrick, do you have details?   Children's names and birth years?

I can't see Patrick Murphy's death either  :-\ Please post links to the information you've already found so that we can provide assistance.

Very sorry about that, I confused James (father) with his son (Patrick). James Murphy married Mary Ann Donohoe - date should be 1860 sorry, and links to some of children's births and his death are attached. The photo of the marriage record is too large so I included a screenshot of the details from Ancestry. I've found 7 children but there is possibly more.

Civil records were introduced in 1864, you could use this site below to search.

Other than that you would go through the Church records.
On the marriage record you posted …..Ballyconnell is in County Cavan
Try area for Kate.

Thanks Maggsie, Debra and KG. That record for Mary Ann's residence looks a bit like 'Murry' but I'm probably wrong.
Thanks again,
Michael :)

Rootsireland has a baptism for a James Donohue 23 Jan 1837 parents Ned Donohue Mary Tallon address Money Lower Clonmore Carlow that seems promising.

Also an Edward 1843 same parents address Munny.
