Ann McDonnagh. Born 1798 Montreal

Hi,

I've hit a bit of a brick wall here.  I know that she was born in 1798 in Montreal, as several Census returns in England state this.  She was married to a British Soldier, Christopher Taylor in September 1819, after which the couple moved to England.

The issue I am having is that I cannot find any information about her parents or her background.   Can anyone help me find her parents and where the McDonnaghs originate?

A few clues.  Witness is a James McDonnough -- likely a brother -- and consent was given by her widowed mother so father is deceased.

It also indicates that Christopher was a sawyer by profession, not a soldier, of Chambly.

Also found the baptism of a James McDunnough, son of John McDunnough and Lucy Hewson(?) in Montreal in 1816; one of the witnesses was an Ann McDunnough. Other children of this couple indicate that John is a tailor.

Also found a burial for a Mary McDonough, a widow, aged 89 years, in 1834.  She is likely too old to be Ann's mother.
