COMPLETE - Cameron - Griffin Marriage
« on: Sunday 14 June 20 01:05 BST (UK) »
Would somebody please be so kind as to look up the marriage of
Johannen (John) Cameron
and
Catharinam (Catharine) Griffin
married Jan 7th 1872
Malden, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

I see their names, the date and the location in Ancestry which points me at the American Ancestry Website.
Any and all info from the record most appreciated.

Thank you for your help
Happy hunting

There are  two marriage records that both refer to Canada.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F2GV-72N

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:HK8Y-QPMM

=================

It appears they had a son John born in 1876 Nova Scotia. On his birth record it list his parents names (John Cameron & Catherine Griffen) as well as when & where parents were married(7 Jan 1872- Medford, Mass.).

Birth Line 517: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:WQ5C-153Z

OR

Birth Line 17: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:WSD1-MHMM

======================

They had a daughter Catherine in 1875. Her birth record has parents marriage as 1872 - Boston, United States

Birth Line 34: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:WQP5-ZT2M

=========================

Perhaps the reference to Canada marriage had to do with that they were residents of Canada?

Thank you, those look like the right people but it is the actual US marriage record I'm trying to access and get back to their parents for the pedigree.

It's a search of the "American Ancestry" website I'd really appreciate.

The links from the first record appear to be sending me towards baptismal records in NS for children younger than the one I've followed the line up through. Allan Joseph Cameron b.1873 in Massachusetts, I get John and Catherine as his parents from his 1909 marriage record (Notre Dame de l'Assomption, Arichat, Cape Breton).

Hopefully somebody has a subscription for the American Ancestry website
Thank you again

This appears to be the birth/Baptism record for their daughter Ann Jane in 1880.

This would be the family in thee 1881 census:

1901 census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KHKJ-Z74

Catherine died in 1936.

Death record: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QK99-V95Y

This appears to be John's death record in 1918. Listed as John Angus Cameron.

Thank you, I have all the census details, they had a fair few children.
It really is the entry for their marriage that I am stuck on.

americanancestors.org is a subscription site. Keep an eye out, every so often they have free access to at least some of the databases.
I'm surprised an 1872 Mass. marriage isn't on familysearch or ancestry.com, I thought they were.
The Mass state archives should have the record. It would be cheaper than a sub to
 americanancestors.org

I found this at ancestry, it is also available at americanancestors.org, just the transcription at both sites. It gives you the parish they were married in. Malden and Medford are next to each other.

Name:    Johannem Cameron
Record Type:    Marriage
