aaargh Norton is monopolising my Laptop
« on: Sunday 14 June 20 10:41 BST (UK) »
I have Norton ... I am not happy with it..

I just want a background virus checker... I used to have a good one.. cant think what it was called now.

But OH had Norton and it offered goodness knows how many machines etc.. so I took it on..

I hate it

permanently popping up and interfering and asking me to shut down and re-start and and and.. i hate it..

anyone know a decent one that minds its own business!! in the background.

thanks

xin

I use AVG free antivirus.  I have had no virus problems in  the several years I have used it.

Norton came pre-installed on my laptop and I found all the popup messages very irritating.

I have Norton for years and never get pop up messages, just the little one in the corner letting you know it doing something but that doesn't effect what I'm doing. I wonder if there is a setting to turn them off.

Same here - very few. Just to say that it's doing things in the background while my computer is idle.  I've run Norton for many years on different machines and have had very little interference.

Another Norton user for many years, no problems with pop ups here.
Maybe you are not responding to messages on the task bar advising you to do a virus check/scan request?
