William Bowman 1781-1843, Cockermouth, Cumberland
« on: Sunday 14 June 20 17:03 BST (UK) »
I am researching William Bowman who was born & died in the Cockermouth area. I have been able to tack his children, his siblings & parents but have been unable to locate information on his wife Margaret. I believe they were married in Cockermouth about 1801. Their 1st child also called Margaret was born in Cockermouth & baptised on 12 September 1802.

Any information relating to their marriage, & her surname would be gratly appreciated
Thank you

There is a tree online with this family-surname for Margaret given as Hind 1781-1826 born Cockermouth. Parents for Margaret Hind-father Richard Hind 1757-1841-mother Mary Bradshaw. The Bradshaw side of the family goes back to 1450 on this tree, but will need checking out well of course.
Regards.

There only appears to be one William Bowman living in the Cockermouth RD in 1841 and he was married to Rachel.

Could you post 1841 details for your William please?

Re the tree details posted by Paco - there is no death for a Richard Hind in 1841.  There is an infant death in 1840 Cockermouth

Thank you. I have not been able to locate the 1941 census. I have seen the one of William & rachel & did wonder if its a second marriage?? The son William is listed as being 20yrs, this would correspond to my William who had a son William who was baptised in All Saints Church, Cockermouth on 19.07.1819. There was a further son George baptised 07.01.1821.
the 1841 census also lists Mary 16yrs & Sarah 1yr, i currently do not have either of these in my records.
His death in 1843 may not be correct as William is a common name.
I have struggled to find any of William's children on 1841 census, but they all re-appear in 1851
Thank you for your help
Kind regards
Carole

Margaret Hind married William Bowman on 22 sep 1821 at St Cuthberts, Carlisle.

My William & Margaret married c1802, this is based on their 1st known child Margaret being baptised on 12.09.1802

Kind regards
Carole
