Connecticut Marriage 1870's

Hi,

What would a Norwich, Connecticut 1870's Marriage Certificate have on it.  Wondering if it was worth getting, and how would I go about it.

Marriage records from that time period usually contained very little information. If it's parents names you seek, I doubt they will have them.

I doubt that there would be an actual Marriage Certificate for that time period also. Most marriages for that time period were entered into some sort of registration book or log. If there was a certificate it wouldn't have any more information than what was entered into a marriage registration book/log.

Thank you, I thought as much, but had to ask, you will never know until you do   Yes, it was to see if parent's names were there, and they weren't on the death certificate either.

Have you tried the newspapers?  There might be a marriage announcement or an obituary.

Hi Erato,

No to newspapers, just found what was on the census for the marriage year, will have a look to see. As for the obituary, not for the right person, someone has grabbed it, and attached to the tree, without checking facts, and wants to make five!
