Hello all I'm hoping some one can enhance the photo i have of the plaque,

my reading of the plaque is :
1918 Egypt 1919.
A present from a German P.O.W
to P Hanratty.
prisoners name : R Eggeling

 the sketching show the Pyramids and the Sphinx

I read the top scroll as:

1917 Egypt 1919
with Palestine underneath

Note: 'Egypt' & 'Palestine' use English spelling, not German.

Is the face on the Sphinx a representation of either P. Hanratty or R. Eggeling?

Hello Tony,
I just googled phots of the Sphinx and it just seem to be the sketching of the Sphinx

Would be interesting to try and find out what happened to the German prisoner, if he lived or died and if he has any family still living.

R or(A) Eggeling must not neccessarily have been German, he may have been Austrian.
