Robert Bryce, papermaker, died South Leith, March 28th 1897, aged 81. His spouse was Agnes McGechan, a native of Ayton in Berwickshire (They had an "irregular marriage " at Lamberton Toll in 1844). His death registration gives parents as James Bryce , leashman (?) and Elizabeth Harvie (?) The writing is difficult and (?) equals my best guess. In the 1851 census Robert's birthplace is "Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire". He was in "New Town of Ayton" by 1841

Only one James Bryce/Elizabeth Hervie couple show up in the online OPR.for Old Kilpatrick. No marriage record, but children Mary born 15/4/1795 and Alexander bapt 12/2/1797. Tempting, but by no means conclusive that this is his family. Anyone come across them in their research?

I have found no clue as to when or where his parents James and Elizabeth died.

The family of Robert and Agnes is the subject of a separate thread under Berwickshire. (qv)

Thanks in advance

Matt

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
