Saye Family from England to USA abt. 1750
« on: Wednesday 24 August 05 03:08 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the Saye Family who moved to America about 1750.

My 2nd great grandfather states:

My Great Grand Father (Richard Saye, Sr.), come over from England about the year 1760 was six weeks making the Voyage, which was not uncommon in those days. The Emigrants that came over with him and he with them settled in Pennsylvania. He there married Miss Mary Hodge, who come over in the same Vessel with him, though I do not know whether they became acquainted on the Voyage or not, they may have known each other before leaving England.

However, I have another source which states the Saye who came to America was a William Saye, the father of Richard Saye, Sr.

Yet still another source states it was a Lord Saye, who came to Connecticut with a Lord Brooks, and founded Saybrook Connecticut

I have been researching the Saye name, off and on for about 30 years, and I keep running up against a brick wall.

Anyone who can help me make our actual connection to England, I would greatly appreciate your help.

Sincerely,

Patricia
