Haircut sir ?
« on: Tuesday 16 June 20 20:47 BST (UK) »
Things got a bit wild and woolly on top.  Can't wait for barbers to re-open - But is having haircut risky re Covid-19?
Happy to wear a facemask but what about the scissors/clippers on your hair and skin?

My long awaited clippers arrived yesterday from China. Remington Quick-Cut, under £30 incl' shipping.
Model greatly in demand so some traders are asking £80, don't give them it. First attempt, assorted combs & charger, dead easy.
Last time I go to the barbers.  ;D

Do you really think they are Remingtons if you got them from China? Electrically safe charger? Really? Fake?

Do you mean Remington Quick Cut - the one sold by Argos, https://www.argos.co.uk/product/4123770 for £30?

My lovely Sarah gave me a haircut using my beard trimmer. The width of a beard trimmer is a narrower than proper hair clippers, but if anything it probably makes it easier not to make such big mistakes. I also bought thinning scissors (I think that's what they're called) and cut the top bit myself by feel. Perhaps they're called feathering scissors?

They're like scissors with gaps in them. Does that make any sense?

I would think that hairdressing salons would have to have some means of sterilising the scissors and clippers between customers.

I have a real issue with all this stuff coming from China, nearly all the disposable face masks are made in China. I'd much rather support the recovery of the British economy than that of the country where the worldwide crisis originated.

Trystan, that the ticket, I fitted the No 2 comb. I already have the Remington beard trimmer but only about an inch wide. Really impressed, runs for ages & washable, been eyeing up the neighbours dug!  ;D

Spare a thought for farmers who own sheep and alpacas which need shearing now. An alpaca shearer from New Zealand was on "Faming Today" this week. He didn't know if he'd be able to work in UK this year. He has a campervan and 1 assistant.

Try climbing a hill without Chinese gear!

I'm not disputing that they are Chinese, but the likelihood that they are the genuine article that meet all safety standards are another matter.

Oddly in our area the local dog grooming parlour has been open for several weeks but the barbers are closed! Anyone else spot an opportunity there?
