Looking for Siblings of Ellen Davis
« on: Wednesday 17 June 20 16:49 BST (UK) »
William Davis and Jane Davis (nee Williamson) married in Belfast on the 22nd May 1867. I know they had two daughters, Mary Jane born in 1875 and Ellen born in 1877. I reckon they would have had other children but can find no record. Can anyone help please?

Where have you looked so far? Have you tried https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/? Were William & Jane alive in 1911? If so the number of children they had will be on the census form http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/.

What parishes were Mary & Ellen born in? You can browse Roman Catholic parish register baptisms at https://registers.nli.ie/

Hi Josey, thanks for the response and yes, I've tried irishgenealogy.ie and found that William Davis died in 1914 but the address given is 1 Springburn Crescent (no city or town) so I've not been able to check the Census Forms.  I've checked for the address on an old Belfast Street Directory and on the Lennon/Wylie website but failed to locate the address. Just after I posted my query I looked again on the Irish Genealogy website for Jane Davis but spread my search outside Belfast and eventually located her death in Donaghadee Co Down in 1921. That record shows a son, Joy Davis, was present at death so that will give me more to work with. Both folk were Presbyterians so the Roman Catholic Parish records are a non-starter! Many thanks for your input!

William & Jane married 44 years, 11 children born alive, 4 still living. Quite a few to find then.....

PS Doesn't it help when you have an unusual name  :)

So list so far is [after marriage in 1867]

David 1870
Thomas 1872
James 1874
Mary 1875
Ellen 1877
Joy 1888

5 to find, main gap is 1877 - 1888, perhaps a child before 1870 as well?
