HENRY WATSON
« on: Thursday 18 June 20 18:55 BST (UK) »
Hi,

My great great great uncle Henry WATSON was born on 9 Dec 1847 in Whitehills, Banffshire and was christened on 12 Jan 1848. He seems to disappear after 1861, and I have no trace of him. Any help finding what happened to him would be much appreciated.

Ryan

Have you ruled out the Henry Watson who died in Boyndie 1890 aged 40? Age is slightly out, but this is not uncommon.

You can view the certificate on Scotland's People website.

The death certificate should name a spouse if known by informant.

There is a probate record that could be a possible match for the death Liviani mentioned in 1890
This Henry Watson was a fisherman and died at sea .his address a 56 Low Shore Boyndie
Mentions his wife Elspet ...
A marriage for a Henry Watson to a Elspet Watson 1877 Boyndie

The 1851/61 censuses show another Henry Watson b 1850 Boyndie - parents George & Jane.  In 1861 he is living with his older sister Janet

1871 he is in Sutherland shown as b Whitehills - relative to John B & Jane Lovie both born Whitehills.  Both men shown as fishermen

In 1881 he is with wife Elspit (misspelt) and 1yr old son William - occ fisherman

I did wonder about that one on the 1871 census in Sutherland ..there is a possibility he married a Besty Lovie 1875 in Boyndie ..I thought that might have been him but several trees on Ancestry has his father as Alexander Watson

I can't see an 1851/61 entry with a father Alexander but there is an 1852 birth on SP - parents Alexander & Janet (nee Ritchie)
