DNA testing is banned in France. (though Iím sure they find ways around it)  :)

I think My Heritage is more popular in some parts of the world than others - maybe the matches reflect that?

Yes, I've found this with My Heritage also. Lots of people who live throughout Europe on there, France, Germany, Scandinavia, Finland and throughout Eastern Europe. I don't find this so much with Ancestry, FTDNA or 23andMe. It appears the latter 3 are more US/Can/UK/Oceania focussed.

I believe My Heritage are an Israeli company .... which may explain why I have so many matches who live in Israel.  :)

Well the weird thing is MyHeritage do not sell kits to Israel. So they probably purchased the kit elsewhere.

Biggles have you tried mutual matches with that distant cousin

Once you know which side of family they connect to you can message offering for them to look at your tree to confirm connection
Good luck

Many thanks for the suggestions.

The person in question has no tree and has not been on Ancestry for quite along time and they have not responded to a Message.

Clicking on Shared Matches brings up a list of results where there are (1) No Trees (2) Unlinked Trees (3) No Common Ancestors (4) where there are trees clicking on the person results in them not being on Ancestry for months.

So I took a punt on one and have just spent two hours creating a link from their tree back to mine

The interesting thing is that the person on whom I took the punt did not get presented to me directly as a possible distant Cousin in the normal DNA listing, they only showed under Shared Matches.

So now I have an idea that the person with 364 Cm shared is likely to have Ancestors from North Lancashire.
