Hi Sparrett/Sue,
Thanks for that I have looked up her will and probate and found that she must have owed George Wilson some money and also that she owned a block of land at 19 Newman St Northcote. She may have lived there with her daughter Catherine before Catherine's marriage to my grandfather Patrick Power. I will now try and look up the rates notice for Northcote in 1890 or so and see if they were living there then.
I can only find 19 Newman St at Thornbury but it might have been Northcote in those early days as I think it's nearby.

As I said, the statement in the probate document about the 'allotment at 19 Newman Street Northcote, does not make it clear as to whether there was  a house on the property.

I would have expected a brief description of the house if one existed.

Is her ownership of this land your only reason for thinking Margaret BIRD ever went to Melbourne at all?

Sue
