Kindertransport
« on: Saturday 20 June 20 10:52 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone.  I'm new to this forum so hope I'm posting this in the right place!

I've recently found out that my great grandfather was a sponsor to two Jewish Austrian girls to come over on the kindertransport and get them settled in England.  Is there any way to research more into this?  I don't know the names of the two girls he sponsored but is there a way to search through him as a sponsor?  Thanks

Hello Fiona, welcome to Rootschat  :D

First of all here is a link to the National Archives explaining about Kindertransport.

If they came over before the 1939 Register, they may well be listed as living with your great grandfather.  It depends on whether they lived with him or elsewhere.

Have you looked to see if you can find your great grandfather on the 1939 register?

Thanks for your reply.  The children didn't live with my great grandparents family.  I've found him on the 1939 census and he is visiting the family felt factory in Salisburys.  He was working at the time as a chartered accountant for the coal commission but acted as the accountant for the family firm.

My great-aunt remembers visting the children after the war so I'm hoping she might be able to shed some light on where they were living.....
