Trewin House, Sheviock
« on: Sunday 21 June 20 09:17 BST (UK) »
My gt grandfather John Foot was gamekeeper at Trewin House and lived at St Winnolls for a few years around 1912. I wonder if anything is known about the  owners, house and estate at that time? Many thanks Mark

Is William Paddock the butler there in 1911, but no 'family' showing, just the staff?  (23 room house)

There is a Beatrice Florence Rawson age 2, 'daughter' (to who?). with a nurse, also there.

Thanks. I am puzzled why my relation travelled to this area when he was previously a gamekeeper at Hutton Court near Weston Super Mare, Somerset. He stayed in Cornwall for only a few years. A daughter died when the family were living at St Winnolls and perhaps that caused them to return to Somerset.

He was offered the job in Cornwall, took the opportunity, and moved.  Or saw it advertised in newspaper or grapevine or elsewhere.
You could research mobility of gamekeepers and job availability etc.
