danieloftyne, always remember these are just possibles. I cannot view the marriage in 1870 to confirm Margaret's father's name and occupation but other's may be able too, or if finance allows the official marriage could be ordered.

It might be worth checking out this family at Harton  Colliery in 1861

John Walton 38
Mary Walton 36
George Walton 16
John Walton 10
William Walton 4
Mary Elizabeth Walton 1
( Apart from William and Mary Elizabeth who are born Harton, the others only have name of county where born - John, George and John in Northumberland and Mary in Yorkshire).

In 1871 they are in Westoe

John Walton 48 b Newcastle
Mary Walton 46 b Richmond
John Walton 19 b Wallsend
William Walton 14 b Harton
Mary E Walton 11 b Harton
Thomas Walton 6 b S Shields

Wonder if John remarried after death of Frances. Groindex has a birth for John Walton in Tynemouth RD Apr-Jun 1851 mmn Longstaff. ( Wallsend is in Tynemouth RD). Re Mary Elizabeth and Thomas mmn seems to be Hall. Problem seems to be lack of a birth for William with that mmn.

William
Dent (Haltwhistle and Sacriston), Bell and Jetson (Haltwhistle), Postle, Ward, Longstaff, Purvis, Manners, Parnaby and Hardy (Co. Durham), Kennedy and McRobert (Banffshire), Reid(Bathgate), Watson (Wemyss), Graham (Libberton), Sandilands (Carmichael), Munro (Dingwall)

Another possible:
George Walton & Margaret Day marriage dq 1868 Guisborough 9d 855. This George appears in 1871/81/91/ with Margaret,1901 a widow and on all census always born Newcastle. In 1901 he has been blind for 2 years.
