It is! Hugh’s father in law, William Docherty, also lived on the High Street at 107. The address that Hugh gave on his marriage certificate.

Hi Jim

When son Hugh married, what did it say re his parents? Did either show as already deceased?

Have you looked for the family in any of the Irish sites such as https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

Falkryn's mention of possible siblings for Hugh made me have a look around too. There is actually another Daniel who married a Margaret McGonigle in Greenock in 1872. They look to have made their lives in Largs, Ayrshire.

This is the family in 1881:

Daniel Boyle 40 Quarryman b. Ireland
Margaret Boyle 36 b. Ireland
Bridget Boyle 9
Jane Boyle 6
Daniel Boyle 3
Felix Boyle 1
John Hart 15 step son
James Hart 11

Address: 36 Boyd St, Largs

The family show in Largs for 1891 and 1901. A daughter Fanny born to them c. 1884.

This Daniel gave mother as Hannah Sweeney (you might want to double check his death reg to see what shows there)

The marriage service was Roman Catholic. Was Hugh's too? Clip from marriage below:

Hi Monica ,

Did notice that Hugh's marriage is on the Catholic Register-
Hugh Boyle / Betsy Docherty , 18th July 1870 , St Andrew's Rothesay.
