looking for marriage.

A lady in the USA has enlisted my help to try and solve a riddle...She is looking for any information
on the marriage and birth etc: of Ann Wood, she married John Mallison [Mallinson]. I know scarce about genealogy so i thought i'd put it up on the England page. She has been over, but couldn't solve the riddle. Ann Wood she believes was a pauper. Other than that.....This is exactly what she wrote to me.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Born approx. 1761. location unknown. Died 1838 Eamont Bridge. Barton.
She and John are believed to have had 6 children.

1. William bap:   Aug 4th. 1788, Skelton.
2. Thomas bap:  Nov 7th. 1790, [Ann listed as a Pauper.] D. Feb. 1797.
3. Ann:.....bap:  July 14t  1793, Eamont Bridge, Barton.
4. Joseph..bap:  Aug 5th. 1798, Barton.
5. John.....bap:  Nov 8th. 1801 Barton.
6. Frances.bap 1805.

Best to visit above site to sort out counties,Skelton is in Cumberland,and Eamont Bridge and Barton are in Westmorland.

I would suggest the "pauper" reference in the 1790 record described the status of husband  John,  and  only by inference Ann. John was a blacksmith. Is it possible he was temporarily in poor health and unable to work?

I would agree with Brentnor Boy that the 'Pauper' is referring to the family rather than Ann Wood.  Perhaps that is the reason that they moved to another area as the parish would not support them, there may be a removal order.

Many thanks for the input as to this search...I personally have no resources, i'v just trawled through the old latterday saints site...with no luck.....
