Blanche Innis - died 1954 - Hornchurch - Burial/Obituary
« on: Friday 26 June 20 11:20 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone could help me with a burial record or obituary for Blanche INNIS.

She died on 12 August 1954 at 13 Barton Road, Hornchurch and is described as the wife of William Benjamin INNIS, although they were not actually married as William's first wife was still alive  :o.

I am pretty sure that Blanche was a relative, Blanche HUSTWICK who was born on 28 February 1900 in Gateshead but as she did not marry William it is very hard to prove.

I obtained her death certificate in the hope that it might refer to someone who proved the link but unfortunately only William is mentioned.  It's a bit of a long shot but I thought her burial/cremation record or obituary may just help.

Any help would be mush appreciated.

Did you get that birth date from her birth certificate or the 1939 register.

Hi Rosie,

I ordered her birth certificate to help track her down on the 1939 register.  I have traced my Blanche and William back and they both have connections to the North East.  Also I do not think any of the other Blanches on the 1939 register with that date of birth could be mine.

P.S. My mother-in-law, who told me lots about her family, was always a bit vague about Blanche which may suggest a bit of a skeleton in the cupboard.

She does look like the obvious match.  Sorry I can't see an obituary, shame there was no probate as they often show 'alternative' surnames.

Thanks for trying Rosie.  It's a pity it was too early for her maiden name to be on the death certificate too and no children as far as I can see.

I even obtained a copy of the Will of William's wife Lilian in case there were any clues there but other than asserting that she was his wife whilst leaving everything to her sister there was nothing conclusive there either.

I now have to decide whether to allow William onto my tree or not  ;), based on the evidence not his conduct of course.

No wonder I could not find him  ;D.   If only we could track her down between 1923 and 1939.

I can't see anything yet that disproves your theory.
