Hello all ,

I have hit the dreaded "brick wall" in my ancestry quest!. So can anyone help me here ?. My distant ancestor Richard Jabez Williams was born in Paul , Newlyn , Cornwall in 1859 . He Married a Mary Hichens in Paul and then migrated to Montana US around 1888. His occupation was Labourer. What i would like to find out is more info about his life in Montana . This is where my records fade away . I appreciate any support . Thank you.

Difficult to know 3exactly what records you already have.

From delayed birth certificate issued 1942 the son Richard was born 31 October 1895 Butte Montana

From WWI registration Phillip Hitchins Williams was born 8 July 1897 Montana next of kin father Richard J Williams. Address 767 Savier, Portland Oregon.
Phiilip was working for the Columbia River Ship Building Corp.

Josiah already given 5 May 1899.

Josiah's information comes from applying for Life Insurance the beneficiary his wife Lucille.

Richard Jabez Williams signed a declaration of intent to become a citizen 1 November 1886 age 26
in Silver Bow Territory of Montana. says he arrived 1884

So we know his other dates of arrival given are incorrect.

He signed another 15 April 1893 age 35 in Silver Bow Montana. 

It's a pity the 1890 census was destroyed by fire. There is a large gap between marriage 1883  and the son Richard 1895.

I cannot believe he lasted that long in Montana where it starts to snow in September and doesn't thaw till end of May.
I had a friend in Oregon she said the weather is more like England, rains a lot but little snow.

A death in Sacramento California for Richard Williams DOB 30 October 1895 (one day out) born Missouri (the M is right) died 1 December 1969 mothers name Hitchins.
