Thomas birth mystery
« on: Saturday 27 June 20 13:27 BST (UK) »
Could anyone help me solve the mystery of why my aunt = Doris Amy Trevor Thomas - was born in Beeston in 1904 but her birth registered in Basford in 1905.

Addresses, if possible, would be an enormous help.

For a start, shes not Amy. What proves where she was born and what evidence gave a 1904 date?

The GRO index shows the qtr that the birth was registered not necessarily when she was born.

Basford reg district covers Beeston

Was she born in the last few weeks of 1904

As you had 42 days to register a birth she could have been born at the end of November 1904, and registered in January 1905, which would be in the March Registration ¼ 1905.

In the 1901 census the family - minus mother Amy Kezia Thomas' (nee Kite) husband Arthur John Thomas who was away at the Second Boer War - are living at Bassant Road, Plumstead/Woolwich in London/Kent.

In 1911 they are living in Ivy Street, Liverpool. The census has Doris Agnes TREVOR Thomas aged 6, born Beeston.

I am trying to fill in the gaps between 1904 and 1911 by attempting to find out the address at which the Thomas family were living in Nottinghamshire in that timeframe.

Hi guys (again) as she was registered in the first quarter of 1905 I guess she was born at the end of 1904.
