Martin Harvey THOMAS 1834-1881

Has anyone any info about this chap, his parentage and his origins.

Married in 1874 in Nelson to Caroline PAAP nee RICHARDSON. Had two children with her and by 1881 they were in Feilding. He died in Feilding in August 1881.

Believe he may have been from Cornwall originally.

Likewise a 1927 Hamilton Court file of probate for Caroline PAAP; widow, which is held at the Auckland branch of archives NZ is restricted, but can be searched and viewed, as above.

Being a less common name, an ARCHWAY NZ Archives search finds 40 odd files under the name PAAP.  Some may also be of interest to your general research.

While I believe you are really after info about Martin pre his 1874 marriage. PAAP research was easier for me to have a quick look at before bed. According to the newspapers Caroline was probably the widow of Mr H C PAAP prior to marriage to Martin.

Not part of the brief but the will (which has some interesting clauses) of a Caroline Paap, widow, executed in 1923, makes no mention of the Thomas name.

Joh. PAAP was Henry's brother and Caroline who died 1927 was his wife.

Henry married Caroline RICHARDSON, he died in 1869 and she later married MH THOMAS.
