Lookup Request
« on: Monday 29 June 20 22:27 BST (UK) »
Hi

Can anyone help me find more information on Joseph Wright?

In 1891 he was a gamekeeper aged 46 yrs living in Sellatyn, near Oswestry. His wife was Ann and she was aged 38 yrs and was born in Wem according to the 1891 census. Joseph was born in Shawbury. Also in the 1891 census were their eight children namely

Joseph, aged 15; born Whitchurch
Frederick, aged 12; born Sellatyn
Eliza, aged 10; ditto
Sarah Ann, aged 8; ditto
Isobel Jane, aged 6; ditto
Susan E., aged 3; ditto
Herbert, aged 2; ditto
Arthur, aged ?; ditto

I don’t have the family on any other census. I tried searching for Joseph and Ann’s marriage but could only find one entry which was for W. Bromwich in 1870 which doesn’t seem right since they seemed to have always been in Shropshire.

Many thanks, Jay ;)

In 1881, they were in Selattyn at RG11/2656/117/2

Hey Gadget!

Thanks for that... do the other particulars match with 1891? Was Joseph a gamekeeper then?

Could this be them in 1881. The first three children's ages match as does the occupation gamekeeper.

It certainly looks like the family I’m searching for, crisane :) Thank you for the lookup.

Trying to figure out where and when they married, that’s if they did of course as I could only find a ref in W. Bromwich which is miles away.

Annie wright 27 Weston? Shropshire

Weston would possibly be Weston Cotton.

I can't see a marriage so far. Would they be on the 1911? That would show years married.
