I reckon you have the correct family, Gadget. I found a death on FreeBMD for a Joseph Wright in Oswestry district in 1914 aged 65 which is a few yrs out but looks like it might be him

Crisane! Wow! Didnít know there was another daughter called Gertrude. This would fit because Sarah Ann is my great grandmother and she named one of her daughters Gertrude :D

Iím so chuffed with all the information you have found, crisane. My father will be so happy :)

I wonder if Joseph and Ann married... Iíve looked on FreeBMD and on the Shropshire equivalent but nothing crops up. Strange.

It could be that Ann(ie) was married previously and her husband died and the marriage to Joseph will show under her previous married name or she and her husband separated and She and Joseph couldn't marry. You could widen your search because it sometimes happened that couples married when the previous spouse died or maybe they just never bothered  :)  A few options to consider.

I have been looking for the baptism of an Ann(ie) Williams but nothing definite yet.

:o :o :o Gadget? You found Ann Williams! Great detective work!  ;D

Joseph Wright was known as daddy Joe and he was over six foot tall and lost  his hand... think dad said it was as a result of an accident with a gun
