Good Afternoon,

These gentlemen were the sons of John HARWOOD and wife Frances Elizabeth (nee TOWNER) and in 1851 were living in Hastings.....in 1861 John was still in Hastings and Charles in his 3rd year as a "pupil" at the Red Hill Reformatory.

They were co-defendants on 11/7/1862 and sentenced to 3 years penal servitude for robbery on the high seas.   I have tried to trace their "careers" after release in 1865, but to no avail, although there are quite a large number of essentially unhelpful Public Member Trees.   Neither re-offended, except seemingly Charles was acquitted of fraud in 1874.

I would be delighted if someone could offer guidance please ::) ::)

Thank you,

BAC3

Thank you Christine53......I missed that entry, but it may answer the question why there appear to be no totally identifiable Census entries for him after 1861
