Place of death?
« on: Thursday 02 July 20 16:25 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out what happened to my ancestor James. Under the 'date and place of death' section, does it say 'gen hos' as in general hospital? I know he 'died of his wounds' so I assume he was hurt in the battle of ginchy on 9th September and died a week later?

Yout thought about Ginchy looks highly likely, the battalion suffered 184 killed wounded and missing on 9th.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
